StoryMap
ArcGIS StoryMap is a story authoring web-based application that allows you to share your maps in the context of narrative text and other multimedia content. Story Map enables multimedia cartography and allows users to tell a story with interactive map, pictures, videos and texts. It is easy to use and can be used a presentation tool.
For your assignment, you will be creating a walking tour that requires you to use a the Guided Map Tour function. Below are some examples of Storymaps used for Walking Tours,not all of which use the Guided Map Tour content block.
- Historic Walking Tour of Old Town Rock Hill, SC - uses an express map and then blocks/swipes for content; use for inspiration but does not include a guided map tour
- Ashland Public Art Collection: A self-guided map tour of Public Art Installations in the City of Ashland, Oregon. - uses text blocks, and a guided map tour
- Reconciling History Walking Tour - uses a guided map tour overview, and a sidecar immersive to dive more into the content of the tour
- Toano: A Living Legacy: Discovering the Stories of Toano’s Historic Downtown - uses a sidecar immersive, but has good examples of other functionality like buttons, and signposting for your users
